The skinny on this project:
It started out as a community map for the Sun-Times News groups Search Chicago products.
As with many projects at the Sun-Times, I worked long and hard on it. I combined dozens of different technologies and information sources, most notably the cta xml files from Tasty Popsicle, and as with many projects at the Sun-Times it was arbitrarily nixed well over halfway through development. So its here now, for your viewing pleasure as well as a testimonial to the futility of working on a website at a newspaper, and last but not least to showcase my abilities as a masher-upper-of-stuff.
The skinny on this project:
I'm not going to toot my own horn too much here and certainly lots of people worked on this project, but as far as the major creative force for this website, look no further.
We started out with essentially nothing, the idea of building "myspace for high school atheltes ."
We ended up with yourseason, and although it has yet to reach its maturation as a social networking platform, its does as good a job as any site I've seen at bridging the gap between how the newspaper covers news and how a website covers news.
As I mentioned before lots of people had a major hand in creating this product especially Mike Obrien (if you other folks want to email me with urls be my guest). But the parts of the site that I am responsible are as follows:
